The purposes of this corporation are: to promote public use of the Bulverde/Spring Branch Library; to develop appreciation of its value as a cultural and educational asset to the community; to supplement library services and materials beyond the library’s normal operating budget, and to encourage the extension and improvement of its services. The corporation also supplements the library’s mission to provide an environment that inspires a life-long love of learning with programs and activities that make available educational and cultural opportunities not normally accessible to members of the community.

What is a Friend?

A Friend of the Bulverde/Spring Branch Library is a person who shares a common desire to perpetuate the growth and to promote the interest and the welfare of the Bulverde/Spring Branch Library as a cultural and educational asset to the area by supporting fund raising, activities and events sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

 

What do the Friends do?

Friends host activities and events for the Library that help to foster community involvement and cultural awareness, support the enjoyment of the Library and its resources, and conduct fund-raisers to help the Library with funding over and above the Library budget.

What have Friends provided?

The Friends of the Library pledged $100,000 over a five year period and completed that pledge in 2011.  This pledge was part of the Capital Campaign and monies raised have been  used for items that the Capital Campaign committee have indicated were needed for the library such as additional shelving, landscaping, audio/visual equipment, computers, fencing, etc.  In addition to this pledge FOL also provides additional funds as needed for special projects, equipment, books, programs, etc. that the library director deems would enhance our library.

 

How do I become a Friend?

Becoming a Friend is easy! Just pick up a membership form at either the circulation desk or download the membership form.  Additional information of membership categories are also on the same link.  Fill it out the form and you may drop it off at the library or mail to the address that is on the form.

 

When do the Friends meet?

The Friends Board of Directors met on the second Monday of each month at 10:30 am at the Bulverde/Spring Branch Library.  The meeting is open to the public.

Can I make a donation to the Friends? top_button

The Friends accepts your monetary donation toward the purchase of a book in honor of a special person. The Library special orders a book, or other media, and a bookplate is placed inside the book noting that the book is an honorarium.  Money can also be donated for larger purchases. The Friends also accept used books and magazines for the Book Nook.  Remember that all donations are tax-deductible.
